Deepika Padukone, born on 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark, is an Indian model and actress. She is the daughter of former badminton champion Prakash Padukone and speaks Konkani as her mother tongue. Deepika has a younger sister named Anisha.
She gained recognition through modeling in print and television ads for brands like Liril, Close-Up toothpaste, and Limca. Deepika received prestigious offers, becoming the brand ambassador for Jewels of India, an annual jewelry exhibition. Her international breakthrough came when Maybelline chose her as their new international cover girl.
At the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards for Indian models and designers, she was honored as Model of the Year. Subsequently, she featured in the 2006 Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar, solidifying her status as a supermodel. Her patrilineal grandfather, Ramesh, was secretary of the Mysore Badminton Association. The family proceed to Bangalore, India, when Padukone was 1 year old. She was educated at Sophia High School in Bangalore and finished her pre-university studies at Mount Carmel College. She then entered at the Indira Gandhi National Open University for a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, but later left her due to planning disputes with her modeling career.

She was also a national level badminton player till the age of sixteen when she given up the sports to peruse fashion and modelling. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark but was elevated in the Indian tech city Bangalore. Her popularity increased when she appeared in the highly popular King Fisher Calendar in 2006.
Deepika says that she was very diffident nature girl during her childhood and did not had many friends. She has also worked as a Child Model at the age of Eight.
Her romantic relationship with Ranbir Kapoor started in 2008 with the movie of Bachna Ae Hasino however it followed in a breakup a year later. In 2017 she fell in love with co-star Ranveer Singh and married him in Nov 2018 in conventional Konkani and Sindhi styled ceremony in Lake Como, Italy.
